An Opportunity for the Ages
Back in August of 2010 a new company was born, www.orcamd.com, focusing on the mHealth ecosystem through the exploration and development of mobile technology. There is a lot in that little sentence and it has created quite a stir in the mobile world. To date Orca MD has developed four iPad/iPhone apps and is currently working on 6 additional apps, with 10 more slated for this year. This is only the beginning. Without giving out too much information... Read More
Mark today on your calendars…today is a day of change
So after 17 years of business I can truly say that what I am about to share with you, is the most exciting project I have ever worked on. After months and months of work I would like to present to you Media Lemur. For the first time in the world’s history print can truly become digital and not just a PDF, website or screen shot of print editions. This won’t be a ‘flip book’ or a flash plug in, Media Lemur is a full feature digital creator. The... Read More
The digital door is wide open—Anyone ready to walk in?
So this week we had another player enter the digital media world, WIRED. How did they do in this humble marketer’s opinion? I give it a two out of five stars. It is an okay start, but honestly coming from a leader in the geek world I truly expected more from WIRED. They did nail down the rich media content, but the delivery of the content was still laced with the feel of print and not the feel of digital freedom. The ads are nothing more... Read More
There is just too much static…so just ignore it.
In the world of marketing and advertising there always seems to be something new, something better and something you just HAVE to use. After 17 years of watching, living and experiencing this, I have come to a solid conclusion—no. No I don’t have to use the newest, latest or most revolutionary thing out there to be successful. In fact it is just the opposite. The most successful marketing and advertising campaigns use the oldest techniques. I... Read More
365 copies and counting… they hope
I came across an article about the new GQ iPad magazine app from Appleinsider.com and it got me thinking. The article focuses on the fact that GQ has only sold 365 copies of their iPad magazine in a month and a half since the iPad has been out. Wow! Out of a million plus possible consumers GQ has only managed to get 365 downloads, really? Is this a sign that digital magazines are doomed? Not even close. My favorite piece from the article... The Dinosaurs are not extinct yet!
With all the hype about social ‘this and that’, websites and portable digital media, have we just abandoned talking about all ‘traditional’ forms of distribution and media? I am referencing that big square box called your TV and about those print newspapers and magazines you have lying around. It seems the only reason people will talk about the ‘big box’ is if it has to do with 3-D technology. Or the only reason print is mentioned... Read More
Ping Pong anywhere, anyway. Wii meet my iPad!
Let it begin… One of our newest projects is only days away from being launched and this is one for the ages! Take an iPad and two iPhones, lay them on the table what do you see? What we saw was a ‘game board’ and two ‘controllers’. That led us to our first of a line of apps using both the iPhone and the iPad. The app is ping pong and we call it Ping Pong Battle. The game is simple in concept; the iPhones are your paddles and... Read More
Become fearless and go digital
Welcome to 2011 the year of digital content. Okay so it isn’t 2011 yet, but for all intents and purposes it is in this marketers world. So why is 2011 the year of digital content, simply put it is because 2010 has been and will be the year of digital hardware. Devices that were once just concepts, like the iPhone, iPad, Android phones and tablets are becoming realities each and every day. For the first time in the world’s history we have... Read More
